Privacy Policy
Effective date October 9, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you use the MileLap Android application and when you visit the MileLap website at milelap.com.
The MileLap Android application and the MileLap website are separate environments and may use different technologies and data-processing practices. A technology, service, or disclosure described in this policy for one does not automatically apply to the other unless this policy says so.
MileLap (the Android application) is designed to help users record, review, and manage trip information. This Privacy Policy explains what information may be collected through the app and through the website, how it may be used, and which third-party services may process it.
App: MileLap
Website: milelap.com
Developer: the individual developer and operator of MileLap
1. Information Collected Through the MileLap Android Application
Depending on the features you use and the permissions you grant, the MileLap Android application collects or processes:
- GPS/location data while recording trips
- Trip and route history, including coordinates, distance, time, and trip type
- Device and app technical information
- Diagnostics, crash reports, and app activity data through Google Analytics for Firebase and Firebase Crashlytics
- Subscription or purchase status through Google Play Billing
MileLap does not receive or store full payment card numbers or complete payment credentials.
2. How We Use App Information
The MileLap Android application uses app data to:
- Record trips manually or automatically when tracking is enabled
- Calculate mileage, distance, time, and trip summaries
- Display trip history, route details, and reports
- Manage trial, Premium, or subscription access
- Diagnose errors, improve stability, and understand app performance
- Analyze app usage and improve the app experience
3. Location and Background Location (Android Application)
MileLap requests foreground and, when enabled, background location access so it can record driving routes and mileage while a trip is active or automatic tracking is enabled. This allows MileLap to continue receiving location updates when you switch to another app, use a delivery app, minimize MileLap, or turn off or lock the screen.
Location data is used to calculate mileage, display route history, generate trip reports, and maintain trip records. Background location is used only for trip recording and enabled automatic tracking functionality; MileLap does not use background location for advertising.
You can control location permissions through Android settings. If location permission is denied or disabled, trip tracking features may not work correctly.
MileLap uses precise device location to record and calculate trips and mileage. Trip and route location records are normally stored locally on your device.
Certain third-party services used by the Android application may also process approximate location information for analytics or application functionality.
Precise location information may also be included in diagnostic information if you choose to send diagnostic data to MileLap Support. Sending diagnostic information is optional.
4. Local Data Storage (Android Application)
Trip routes, trip history, mileage records, settings, and local trial or Premium state may be stored primarily on your device.
Local data may be deleted if you uninstall the app, clear app data through Android settings, or use in-app deletion features if they are available.
5. Google Analytics for Firebase (Android Application)
MileLap uses Google Analytics for Firebase to understand how the Android app is used and to improve the product. This service may process information such as:
- app interactions and events;
- app-instance or installation-related identifiers;
- device and app information;
- usage information; and
- other automatically collected analytics information provided by the Firebase Analytics SDK.
This disclosure applies to the MileLap Android application. It is separate from, and not controlled by, the website analytics consent choice described in the Website Analytics section below.
6. Firebase Crashlytics (Android Application)
MileLap uses Firebase Crashlytics to detect crashes, diagnose errors, and improve the reliability and stability of the Android application. Crashlytics may process technical diagnostic information such as:
- crash traces and stack traces;
- crash-related technical information;
- installation identifiers; and
- device, operating system, and app state or related diagnostic information.
7. Firebase Remote Config (Android Application)
MileLap uses Firebase Remote Config to retrieve configuration values that can change certain app behavior or settings without requiring a new app release. Firebase Remote Config uses a Firebase Installation ID to provide configuration values to app installations.
8. Payments and Subscriptions (Android Application)
If MileLap offers paid features, Premium access, trials, or subscriptions, purchases are processed by Google Play Billing.
MileLap may receive or process information about purchases and subscriptions made through Google Play, such as subscription status, product or subscription identifiers, and related purchase events.
This information may be used to determine access to paid MileLap features and for analytics relating to purchases and subscriptions.
Payments are processed by Google Play. MileLap does not receive or store your full payment-card details.
9. Data Sharing and Third-Party Processing
The developer does not sell user data.
For the services below, Google and Firebase act as service providers processing data on MileLap's behalf and according to their applicable terms. MileLap allows these service providers to process data as needed for app or website functionality, analytics, diagnostics, billing, service operation, or legal compliance.
- Google Analytics for Firebase, Firebase Crashlytics, and Firebase Remote Config: analytics, crash reports, diagnostics, and remote configuration for the Android application
- Google Analytics: website usage analytics for milelap.com, only when you choose to allow website analytics
- Google Play: billing, subscriptions, purchases, and entitlement status
10. Data Retention and Deletion
Local trip routes, trip history, mileage records, settings, and local Premium or trial state may remain on your device until you delete them, clear app data, or uninstall the app.
If MileLap provides in-app deletion features, you can use those controls to delete supported local records.
Data stored locally by the MileLap Android application may be removed through available application controls, by clearing application data, or by uninstalling the application, depending on the type of data.
Information processed by third-party services such as Google or Firebase is subject to those providers' applicable retention and deletion practices.
MileLap does not currently provide a dedicated mechanism for requesting deletion of all data collected by third-party analytics or diagnostic services.
11. User Choices and Controls (Android Application)
You can control location permissions, background location permissions, notifications, and other app permissions through Android settings.
You can stop active trip tracking through the app controls when tracking is active. You can also clear app data or uninstall the app to remove locally stored data from your device.
Subscription management, cancellation, and purchase history are handled through Google Play account settings.
12. Website Analytics
This section applies only to visits to the MileLap website at milelap.com.
MileLap uses Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the MileLap website. Google Analytics may process information such as pages visited, session information, browser and device information, approximate geographic information, and other website usage information.
Google Analytics may use first-party cookies, including cookies such as _ga, to distinguish visitors and sessions.
Google Analytics is not loaded on the MileLap website unless you choose “Allow analytics” through the website's consent controls.
You may reject website analytics when first prompted or change your choice later using the Cookie settings link in the site footer.
The website analytics preference does not control analytics or diagnostic services used by the MileLap Android application, including Google Analytics for Firebase, Firebase Crashlytics, or Firebase Remote Config.
Learn more about how Google processes information from sites and apps that use Google services.
13. Cookies and Website Consent
MileLap does not load optional website analytics until you select “Allow analytics.” If you allow website analytics, Google Analytics may set first-party cookies after that choice.
MileLap also uses a small amount of local browser storage to remember your website analytics preference; this local storage is not used for advertising.
You can change your preference at any time using the Cookie settings link in the site footer. Rejecting website analytics does not prevent normal use of the MileLap website.
14. Children's Privacy
MileLap is not directed to children under the age of 13.
Neither the app nor the website knowingly collects personal information from children under 13. If you believe that a child under 13 has provided personal information through the app or website, contact the developer so the concern can be reviewed.
15. Data Security
MileLap uses reasonable technical and organizational measures intended to protect app and website data. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and absolute security cannot be guaranteed.
16. Third-Party Service Providers and Links
Google and Firebase are third-party service providers used by the MileLap Android application and, for website analytics, the MileLap website. They are not the operator of MileLap and do not own your MileLap records.
